Breaking out on your own can be daunting at points, but you’d never know that was the case as former Katzenjammer mainstay Sol Heilo strides into the spotlight with conviction on her latest. “Killing Karma,” the second single off of her upcoming LP Skinhorse Playground [out Oct. 27 c/o Propeller Recordings], strikes a confident tone from the outset and never looks back.
The cut’s ‘zero fucks’ lyricism coalesces around swirling strings, quick-hitting percussion, and subtle piano imprints as the soloist’s folksy charm reverberates throughout. But it’s perhaps the flood of Heilo’s vocal takes layered together creating her own personal choir that stands tallest; a well-played approach.
Enjoy the anthemic new piece below, grab a copy for yourself, and be sure to pre-order Skinhorse Playground before its October 27 release.
