Digital High’s Top 20 of 2017 [20 – 16]

It’s the end of December so you know what time it is; the annual guessing game of which coworker will be the sloppiest drunk at your office holiday party. Oh, and Digital High’s Top 20 Tunes of 2017. So without further ado I present to you this year’s mix of eclectic achievement.

20. “Just Dance”HONNE
Starting us off this year is a duo who held DH’s top spot last year so it’s only right they make an appearance the following. A nu-disco electroni-popper, the grooves come effortlessly on this upbeat cut and great beginning to the year end countdown:

19. “Shining”DJ Khaled ft. Beyoncé & JAY-Z
“All of this winning” sets the tone with this heavyweight collaboration. And how when the all-star husband and wife duo combine for a triumphant back and forth on the Khaled commandeered track. Get a taste of the good life with a stream below:

18. “Save A Little Love”Don Diablo
The first slice of electronic dance to make this year’s list, Don Diablo’s cut is packed with vibrant synth layers and melodic kicks from Swedish duo Smith & Thell. You can be damn sure it won’t be the last slice either:

17. “love somebody like you”joan
When you can be compared to established acts like LANY and The 1975 you know you’re probably doing something right. That’s why the Arkansas duo’s dynamic single has made this year’s cut. Rich percussive grooves coalesce around beautifully mastered synthesizers inspired by decades passed, lending themselves to the melodic overreach of the cut. Here’s to hoping there’s much more of the same to come from the two in 2018:

16. “Killing Karma”Sol Heilo
Striking a sense of stirring confidence from the outset, the former Katzenjammer vocalist wows on her Skinhorse Playground standout. The cut’s ‘zero fucks’ lyricism coalesces around swirling strings, quick-hitting percussion, and subtle piano imprints as the soloist’s folksy charm reverberates throughout. Making an appearance on 2018’s list doesn’t seem so far fetched if she keeps this up:
