Calvin Harris ft. Dua Lipa – One Kiss

2018 got off to somewhat off a shaky start for Calvin Harris, at least in my inconsequential opinion. Having closed the book on last year’s Funk Wav experiment, the prodigious producer embarked down a new soundpath, manifested by the forgettable “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready”. But it didn’t feel right, didn’t really land. That’s all changed the second time around.

With Dua Lipa tapped for collaborative duties, “One Kiss” is a return to form, jumping right into it with disco-tinged synths before opening up into a full-fledged, retro-house heater. Four-on-the-floor rhythms kick while touches of brass brush the track, creating a 90’s-esque soundscape perfect for the “IDGAF” soloist’s unassailable vocals.
