Running Red Lights – Salt

With dynamic rhythms and vibrant melodies setting the pace, it’s unsurprising you might do a double take when recognizing Running Red Light’s latest is actually the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Contest Winners’ hot take on apathetic aloneness.

“Salt,” co-produced and penned alongside Robyn Del Unto, deals in the worrisome foibles of depression and social isolation spun through a gladdening weave. Melancholic verses are traded over a spirited indie-pop production base. But its that juxtaposition of illusory happiness, the cut’s common thread, that works so well in their musicmaking favor.
