Self-described as “Basically Bob Dylan fronting Oasis, with Beck making the beats,” Mondo Cozmo has a strong sense of self. But the L.A. based bellower backs up his own high praise with an exceptional sound, evidenced by the sonic superiority of his latest.
“Your Motherfucker,” released as part of the similarly titled EP earlier this summer, makes new noise this week as its lyrical visualizer begins to generate buzz. Matching the raw charisma of the cut’s electrifying alt-rock melody, siren songstress Rose Villain exudes a subtle lure as she slightly shifts in a scant leather piece for three minutes.
But the true focus of the visual accompaniment remains the original mix. With a compelling intro that builds into further, full-bodied instrumental maturation and a vocal take steeped in substance and style, you begin to appreciate the certainty of Mondo’s harmonic hubris.
