Digital High has been cold to lukewarm as far as Foster The People releases have been concerned. Their brand of innocuous pop, while agreeable to many, has never really resonated on these pages; until today.
“Worst Nites,” first release since last year’s Sacred Hearts Club, is a steady groover relying on an electro rhythm propped up by funky licks, glitzy synths, and an unflagging percussive element. Bracket that with Mark Foster’s glitched out falsetto and you’re left with an instantly likable listen and easy radio hit. +1 from this guy.
