Cattle & Cane, brother and sister duo, are ramping up their Golden rollout effort [out Nov. 17] with the release of latest preview “Icarus.”

Playing up themes of impetuousness, the siblings co-opt the fabled flier as allegorical influence and in doing so craft a meaningful story and sound. Songwriter and vocalist Joe Hammill explains:

It’s that idea of all in. Without compromise, no matter the cost. I’ll deal with it later kinda attitude.

That idea of brash temerity materializes in the alt-folk rhythms and is roused expressively so in their big, beautiful harmonies. We may never truly touch the sky but these two are damn close.
