Jack Antonoff, when not busy producing the shit out of some of today’s stars’ biggest hits, mixes it up and fronts the six-set Bleachers. And Bleachers just released their fourth studio album, coincidentally called Bleachers [out now], chock-full of social commentary on modern life and living with a decidedly New Jersey bent.
There are a ton of high points, “Modern Girl,” “Jesus Is Dead,” and “Tiny Moves” to name a few, but there’s something about “Call Me After Midnight” and its staying power.
Originally recorded as a demo for BROCKHAMPTON, the alt-pop nocturne is a subtly sweet give and take with longtime collaborator Sam Dew in which the two vocalize their frustrations with late night booty calls. Couple that with a brassy, R&B-pop instrumental and it’s no wonder why this listen relishes longevity.
