Waterparks – “PROWLER”

Announcing plans for their sixth studio release JINX [out July 24], genre-agnostic trio Waterparks tee one up for the metal-heads with “PROWLER.”

Electrifying synths and razor-sharp riffs set the tone before a round of raucous percussion interrupts this impassioned flow, but it’s the absolute candor in the verse and hook telling the story here. Frontperson Awsten Knight explains:

I wrote [this song] at a time I felt the most isolated last year..We separated from (almost) all of our old team and our record label. This was one of the biggest changes we could’ve experienced…So it felt like losing almost everyone I knew, even tangential friends, while also feeling like career-wise the floor was falling out from under me…This song is a reflection of the extremely concentrated sadness I felt over those months while trying to rebuild my world.

It’s that introspection, rooted in authenticity, that proves to resonate long after a listen.
