Rotterdam four-set Library Card are serving a taut take on post-punk with their new single “Out of Context.”
Taking to task toxic capitalism, the cut relies on roguish vibraphone touches in the riff sections and an urgent, rhythmic backbone to serve as vessel for their vociferous, spoken word criticisms. Speaking to the message of the moment, vocalist Lot van Teylingen shares:
[This song] delivers a snarky comment against corporate life and late stage capitalism – with dystopian office life as its backdrop it highlights the absurdity of an unachievable work ethic and the glorification of the grind.
As an unimpressed member of that grind now, this one resonates something serious.
