Gen Z creatives Super Sometimes are easily Digital High’s favorite find of recent memory. With true bops like “Afterthought” and “Make Up Stories,” the trio put their pop+punk prowess on full display. So it should come as no surprise that their latest listen is popping up in these pages too.
“Learned My Lesson,” appearing on the fast-approaching Show the World What’s Underneath [out May 15], is more of the same punk energy and rush as previous releases but leans more into pop territory on the recommendation of friend and Hot Mulligan guitarist+vocalist Chris Freeman. The band explains:
Chris really pushed our boundaries on this track, challenging us not to make just another run-of-the-mill pop-punk song—and that’s exactly what we did…taking direct influence from Bloc Party and Hot Mulligan (obviously), this song is a true testament to us being more than just your standard pop-punk band—in the best way.
That shift in sound lands rather convincingly as a reliance on synth, organ, and tambourine translates into another obvious hit for the three. And yet another favorite of Digital High.
