The Kick, beat-craftin’ duo most notable for producing Malcolm Todd bops, are stepping out from behind the boards to bestow their very own sound onto the scene with debut release “Wish 4.”
Lead single from their upcoming project 1+1, the alt-pop mix leans away from the more poppier stylings of their famous friend and instead is a whirlwind 7-minute long journey featuring bright guitar riffs, Casablancas-derived distorted vocality, minimally reverbed percussion, and one ambitious breakdown. All in service of selling their style of sunny indie-sleaze. And it hits just perfectly.
These two know what they’re doing and are here to stay.
