The James’ brothers have been cooking up and dishing out some of music’s better alt-pop parts since their debut two years ago, continuing that trend today with their first single of 2018. “Dream,” a melodic meditation on a romance gone astray, dazzles from the drop with rousing plucks and lead singer Abner’s undeniable vocals setting the tone. From there the cut picks up steam as electroni-pop synthscapes add texture and tempo-keeping percussive elements drive the upbeat melody home. Another rotation mainstay from the boys? You know that’s right.
